WEYENBERG
“Massagic”
7-Eyelet, Cap-Toe Oxford
Circa 1940
Euro 550Out of the over 200 American Shoemakers clustered around New England at the start of the 20 Century, only a handful remain, among them Bostonian, Cole-Haan, J &M and, in Europe, the better know Alden and Allen-Edmonds. The great Florsheim, Hanover, Cordwainer, Nunn-Bush, Bostonian and the maker of this fine shoe, Weyenberg. Many exist today as marketing firms, the bulk of their wares being produced off-shore or do not exist at all. Lamentable.
The Cap-Toe Oxford is a standard today but the 7-Eyelet model is rarely seen and identifies it as a mid- or early 20th century product. With its chisel-toe, and mottled finish, this is a marvelous classic model in the old practice of workmanship, a handsome and extremely durable shoe in a hundred year old tradition. Hand-welted in contrasting twine.
Size: US 10D.…..UK 9E…..European 43-43.5D, for the medium width foot.
Condition: Excellent, very lightly worn and all original. Superb! -

Der Oxford scheint mit einem Leisten gemacht zu sein, der für den amerikanischen Fuss passender und robuster ist. Letztendlich eine gute “Heirat” zwischen Form und Qualität.
