This vintage pair appears identical to those made for the War Office under contract but was sold commercially at the time by Hoggs of Fife, specialists in boot making for the Equestrians, Police, and Military forces worldwide.

With its Goodyear welted Itshide Commando Soles, this fully leather-lined boot, made from Full-Grain Zug Leather, is a handsome classic, suitable for a variety of uses and enviroments. including the most demanding.

Zug leather, apart from its highly waterproof characteristics is, because of its embossed, raised grain, far less susceptible to bruising or nicking than smooth leathers. This boot is, of course, in near new condition but I am showing other examples in the website, used and as much as 40 years old that show not a single sign of scratching or other damage! It is generally agreed that the Zug grain leathers of the mid century, mostly purveyed by the tanners, Bridge Of Weir and Martins, are of superior quality and longer durable than anything available today.

The construction of this shoe allows for the easy replacement of the sole but replacement is academic; you cannot wear out this sole. This boot will serve you faithfully like few others and for decades to come. My old clients know what I mean when I say, “My highest personal recommendation on this shoe.”
