*Vintage HANOVER, Full Brogue Derby (Budapester), Circa 1980: 42.5D
Full Wing-Tip 6-Eyelet Full Brogue Derby
by the erstwhile eminent American Shoemaker
Hanover, like Florsheim, Cordwainer, Nunn-Bush and others, produced more than one price and quality level of product, in some cases even taking orders for custom shoes, extremely desirable rarities today. This pair, although marked for size, appears to be on that custom level, Goodyear welted (of course) with additional “split reverse welt, the so-called “storm welt”. This is a marvelous classic model in the old tradition of workmanship, a handsome and extremely durable shoe, equal to the great Florsheim Imperials and superior, in my view, to the contemporary Alden or Allen Edmonds cordovans in the 5-600 Euro category.
Size Details:9.5D US……8.5E UK…..European 42.5D, for the medium width foot.
Original soles lightly worn, heels replaced and lightly worn since. . Tops show considerable checking, nevertheless the leather is soft and and effected, indeed beautifully patinated. This depth of colour is what we look forward to and only time and many polishings can achieve it.
