This elegant single-sole Florsheim Cap-Toe Oxford stands in contrast to Florsheim’s much heavier Budapesters (Derbys). The overall appearance is more delicate and rather sleeker. My old clients have grown weary of hearing me extol the virtues of the vintage Florsheim Imperial Budapesters. This shoe is not to be compared to Florsheim’s ironclad Budapesters, nevertheless, it is a handsome business, evening or formal shoe in good quality Calfskin. A beautiful traditional model, very useful and a basic in the wardrobe. Both a practical and a representative shoe for the gentleman and nicely finished. Goodyear welted. The 7-Eyelet treatment is most flattering to the foot too!
The history of Kangaroo skin in the making of shoes is over 100 years old, with the apogee of its use being in the early part of the 20th century. Kangaroo skin outlasts calf skin in its resistance to drying and cracking and a surprising number of examples of shoes in this material exist after 80 or more years, while most calfskin shoes of that vintage have long become unwearable. With it strong fine grain, Kangaroo leather also develops a lovely patina over time.
