Out of the over 200 American Shoemakers clustered around New England at the start of the 20 Century, only a handful remain, among them Bostonian, Cole-Haan, J &M and, in Europe, the better know Alden and Allen-Edmonds. The great Florsheim, Hanover, Cordwainer, Nunn-Bush, Bostonian and the maker of this fine shoe, Weyenberg exist today as marketing firms, the bulk of their wares being produced off-shore or do not exist at all. Lamentable.
The Full Brogue Derby has remained a standard in the gentleman’s wardrobe for almost 100 years and promises to remain in fashion while many other styles come and go. This example of the classic by Weyenberg embodies the best in the old traditions of workmanship, materials and hand finish. This is a handsome and extremely durable shoe, a godsend for a big or heavy man, that can be expected to serve for literally decades to come. Goodyear welted with additional 360 degree storm welt.
