The ideal business and evening dress shoe.

The handwork in this shoe, up to and including the finely sewn channeled sole, is a testament to the skill of bygone shoemaking and further evidence of the superior quality of shoemaking that emerged in immediately post-war England. The overall appearance of this shoe is one of ultimate luxury. Certainly this is the last word in a business and/or evening dress shoe for the gentleman who’s has the good fortune to be this size.

Hitchcock exists today and continues to specialize in wide fitting shoes but, like so many venerable American firms, they are reduced to importing lesser quality from low-cost source. This shoe harkens from their better days when not even the best English bench-made quality was out of reach for them. And in terms of quality and rarity this shoe is in the first category. Indeed any shoe of this fineness is a rarity today and to find this treasure in new condition after 35+ years in this large size is startling. This shoe competes favourably with anything costing under Euro 600 and, frankly, although it pains me to say so, many shoes by famous makers today that cost more than Euro 1000. In short, it has my highest recommendation.
