Navvy Cut, Cap-Toe, Field Boot
by
WESTLAND, U.S.
Versand ohne Schuhspanner.

Navvy Cut, Cap-Toe, Field Boot
by
WESTLAND, U.S.
Euro 430This exceptionally sturdy boot by the pre-war American shoemaker, Westland, is a stylistic throw-back to the Navvy Boot worn by Civil Engineers, Canal and Railroad workers at the turn of the century and before but, because of their robustness, adopted by gentlemen for everyday use and by officers in the field. This handsome boot is the particularly well made. The Goodyear welted sole and the ankle support of the high top, give a sense of stability, standing or walking, that few other shoes provide. The fine-grain calfskin promises true comfort while making this as durable a shoe/boot as any on the market. Go to John Lobb’s website “Catalogue” page to see similar examples of this traditional style. This is ideal footwear for the present season but protective, attractive and suitable for any and every season. Every gentleman should have at least one rugged boot to depend upon in rough weather or terrain. Guaranteed to get you out of tough situations in exotic locations. While this boot is certainly suitable for country wear -a ideal shoe for shooting, trekking or climbing- it is tremendously handsome worn with jeans or other city gear. In the day and age of this shoe, the 1920s and before, gentlemen wore high top shoes as often as the low-cut shoe we wear today. Try these with a dark suit; stunning!
Size Details:
Continental 41.5-42D (UK 7.5-8E....US 8.5-9D), for the average width foot..(and that is the only thing average about this boot. These are marked US 8.5 and will fit that size well and more generously than the average shoe, a good thing allowing for the wearing of a heavier sock. By my measurements and because of the generous lasting, these will also be fine for the US 9 foot (Continental 42).
Shoe Condition:
New and unworn; leather, tops and bottoms, perfect and supple, a small miracle for a shoe this vintage. These are superior to Crockett's "Hand Grade", Crockett's finest product and priced this Spring at Polo's Madison Avenue Flagship Store at $850 plus tax. Notice the closed channel welting; the earmark of the best level of shoemaking.
