    Johnston & Murphy’s massice version of this great classic model is from their prestige line, the “Aristocraft”. With a dramatic slightly chisel-toed last that resembles those of the 1930’s and rivals their main competitor, the Florsheim Imperial, both in quality of materials. Notice the 360 degree Storm Welt (split reverse welt).The superbly fine-grained calfskin with the texture of horsehide has been factory “antiques” finished with dark overtones above the main oxblood color.  This shoe remind one of a custom made shoe and is easily confused with old patinated shell cordovan. Very appropriate to business, daytime or even less formal evening dress, this impressive model never fails to draw compliments. The first choice of American  businessmen for almost a century.
