Golfers the world round know that the finest traditional golf shoes are made and have been made throughout the 20th century by one shoemaker, The FootJoy Company. FootJoy began its operation as the Burt & Packard Shoe Company founded in Brockton Massachusetts in 1857. In 1927 the company took the name of its premier line of shoes, the FootJoy. Since then they have been the leading golf shoe on the PGA tour, the # 1 selling golf shoe in England and theundisputed leader in the manufacture of Golf Shoes in the world. The vintage and antique FootJoys represent the pinnacle of craftsmanship and luxury, and are highly prized by collectors and aficionado of fine shoes. Needless to say, a golf shoe must stand up to far more abuse than a normal shoe. You can count on this shoe to survive in all conditions of use.

This and one or two other Lizard Footjoys among my listings are perhaps the finest and the rarest golf shoes to be seen outside of a museum….and certainly the most beautiful. The skins are artfully arranged, with fine and coarse patterned pieces distributed for maximum effect, and all perfectly matched between shoes.

This particular shoe is intended for golf but easily convertible by my expert shoemaker for everyday street use.

When this shoe was available from the factory before they closed 1n 2009, it cost $1500 plus tax, required 16-20 weeks for delivery, and was not available for export outside the United States. Imagine what this shoe would cost today. Moreover, special order shoes were non-returnable to Footjoy if, for instance, the fit was incorrect. [My sales are fully returnable for this or any other shoe.]

Finally, if you want my opinion, this is one of the most handsome shoe in the entire website. Have us convert it for street use if you do not play golf.

Diese antiken FootJoys stehen für absoluten Luxus und die Blütezeit der Schuhmacherkunst und werden bei Sammlern edler Schuhe und bei Afficionados aller Couleur hoch gehandelt.

Footjoy im März 2008 seine letzte Werkstatt in den USA, in Brockton/Massachusetts, geschlossen hat. Während die Firma weiterhin eine grosse Menge an Turnschuh-ähnlichen Golfschuhen in seinen Off-Shore-Niederlassungen produziert, ist mit der Schliessung in Brockton die letzte Bastion traditionell gefertigter Golfschuhe untergegangen. Damit versiegte auch die letzte Quelle für massangefertigte Golf- und Strassenschuhe aus Eidechsenleder und anderen exotischen Lederarten, unbestriten die einst beste Produktion weltweit.
