Diese Schuhe wurden in der Werkstatt handgefertigt und können absolut mit jedem anderen amerikanischen und englischen Schuh konkurrieren. Eher noch reichen sie an den ausgesprochen haltbaren österreichischen und ungarischen handgefertigten Blucher heran, wenn sie ihn nicht sogar an Massivität übertreffen.

Der “Imperial” darf weder mit dem allgemeinen Massen-Produkt noch mit dem modernen Florsheim Imperial verwechselt werden. Obwohl der moderne Imperial ein Schuh von absolut guter Qualität ist, steht er in keinem Vergleich zu diesem historischen Imperial. Ein Blick auf die Sohle und am Absatz genügt um den Unterschied zu offenbaren. Ohne Übertreibung, ein gigantischer, unverwüstlicher, bis in Ewigkeit haltbarer Schuh, der dennoch mit kleinen Details zum Erfreuen aufwartet. Die Charkteristika der besten Schuhe sind in diesem Meisterstück vereint: “Edge-Binding“, “Split Reverse Welt” (Bild#13), Doppel-Rahmengenähte Sohle, Handschuhfeines Box-Kalbsleder-Futter. Eine schwer beeindruckende Arbeit der Schuhmacherkunst.

Schwer auf dem derzeitigen Markt zu finden und unbezahlbar. Eine noch größere Rarität als die legendären Lobb’s und Edward Green’s. Ich habe mehr als ein Jahr gebraucht um ein paar dieser Imperials in unterschiedlichen Grössen zusammenzutragen. Built on the same indestructible double-sole platform as the Florsheim Imperial Full Brogue, this Derby, when available 30 year ago, was sold in far fewer numbers and is scarcer still than the Brogue and in as great a demand today in Europe as in America. My old clients have grown weary of hearing me extol the virtues of the vintage Florsheim Imperials. Please notice the massive double sole plus storm welt (split reverse welt) and the heel with its double row of hand-set nails and “V” cleat. This is a shoe that will not soon be equaled in the world, certainly not among the ready-mades. The attention to detail in the Imperials is most impressive. This particular pair is exceptional, as it new; an extreme rarity for a shoe not made for over 30 years. This is exactly the type of shoe leather that will develop an extraordinarily beautiful patina over the years. Florsheim’s Pebble Grain Calfskin takes to polish exceptionally well and, over time, takes on a warm glow.
A shoe of this build quality, with double sole and armoured heel, is a gift from the gods for a big or a heavy man or any man who is hard on shoes. You will be wearing this pair long after you have walked out of several other pairs of less substantial pairs.
