Die klassische Firma “Cordwainer Wright” war lange Zeit der viel bewunderte Hersteller feinster Schuhe und bemerkenswert besonders durch seinen dramatisch geformten Leisten, der uns fast an den Stil der Vorkriegs-Modelle erinnert; schmal im Rist, ausgebaucht am Fussballen, mit einer eher spitz zulaufenden “chisel-toe”. Der Effekt ist wunderbar und sofort erkennbar als entweder antiker Schuh oder als Massanfertigung. Cordwainer, oder seine Nachfolger seit den 80-ern, produzieren nicht länger einen vergleichbaren Schuh. Der letzte Vertreter ihrer Hochqualitäts-Produktion waren die legendären Cordovans der 80er: heutzutage selten zu finden. Ein Schuh dieser Finesse ist generell schwer auffindbar und ein Vertreter – in solch gutem Zustand nach 30 Jahren – ist ein absoluter Glücksfall.

The classic firm of Cordwainer Wright has long been an admirable producer of fine shoes and remarkable for the use of the dramatically shaped lasts that we associate with pre-war shoes, narrow at the instep, flared at the ball of the foot, with a fairly pointed chisel-toe. The effect is wonderful and immediately recognizable as either an antique shoe or a custom-made one.

Their descendent firms since 1980 no longer produce anything comparable to this shoe. The last of their high quality production were their legendary cordovans from about 1980’s; quite rare to find today. Indeed any shoe of this fineness is a rarity today and to find this treasure in new condition after 30 years is startling.
