All-Weather Shell Cordovan Monk Strap

Alden is one of the few remaining American shoemakers, as much in demand in Europe as in the U. S. and this shoe is proof positive of their excellence. Their Monk Strap with its narrow strap, and discreet solid brass buckle is one of my personal favourites but this particular shoe is further distinguished by the factory “custom order” addition of their proprietary all-weather rubber sole. There are many after-market rubber soles to be seen but this in Alden’s own sole applied in Alden’s own factory at a cost of $135 (in America) added to the approximately $650 base price. In Europe, with postage, import taxes and M.w.S., expect to pay approximately Euro 850 before the special rubber sole and you will not see this configuration in shops; it must be ordered.

Lastly, this shoe is an especially handsome piece of Horween horsehide; Alden orders the best! Needless to say, a perfect shoe for the season.
