This Circa 1950’s version of the traditional Spectator was first sold in Washington’s Lewis & Thomas Saltz prestigious haberdashery, the source of much that was sported by presidents and congressmen; among others, Lyndon Johnson was a client.
This shoe is further distinguished by the use of three leathers, the brown for the caps, front and rear, smooth white for the vamp and (a close look will reveal) white Scotch Grain for the quarters, (see close-up blow) a very unusual touch.
