With the opening of the Belgian Shoe shop at 110 East 55th Street in Manhattan, these light weight Brussels-made loafers have become something of an icon in certain fashion conscious New York circles. There is no doubt that these slipper-like loafers are comfortable; for the rest, however, quality of materials, construction and durability, the jury is still out, if you take my meaning.

It is interesting to note that these are partially hand made, to be exact “cottage” made by various hand workers at home, and then finished in the Belgian factory. I am not sure that this procedure has any advantages but it is, at least, a curiosity.

With sales tax, these sell for about $500 in New York. They can also be bought on line but delivery, I am told, can take as long as an amazing 6 months.
