6-Eyelet, Hand-Sewn, Cap-Toe Oxford
Circa 1925
Euro 680This excellent Kidskin Oxford can be dated by its dramatically pointed toe and half-canvas lining to the first quarter of the 20th century. The use of Kidskin was unusual in the day and few such excellent examples remain of the pre-war period. Kidskin is know for it exceptionally comfortable characteristics. Practically speaking, this century old shoe, built on so radical a last, is among the few of its kind remaining, a model favoured, in its day, by musicians, dandies and celebrities, but also well dressed businessmen, and the always perfectly turned out gentlemen of leisure.
Few shoes in this website or anywhere compare to this elegant historical tour-de-force, either for hand-craftsmanship, for sheer beauty and certainly not for rarity.
Goatskin, traditionally spoken of as Morocco leather or Kidskin, is used for making fine gloves –the Kid gloves of the Victorian era, still made today- shoes & boots and a variety of accessories and is prized for it softness and surprising durability. Shoes made of Kidskin are know for their superior accommodation to problem or irregular shaped feet. Of course they are a pleasure for any feet.
Size Details:
This shoe was made to order and, as such, has no size markings but, by my measurements using shoemakes lasts of known size, this is a US 9C........UK 8D.......European 42C. for the somewhat narrower foot.
Shoe Condition:
This shoe is entirely original. The soles show minimal wear. The heels, show zero wear, and the tops are like new, "neuwertig". These are a wearable museum piece, a collector's item of the highest order. Hand-sewn welt in contrasting twine.
