Hackett was founded in 1979 by Jeremy Hackett and Ashley Lloyd-Jennings from a stall on London’s Portobello Road. The first shop, on the “wrong end” of King’s Road, in London Chelsea district, sold only used clothes. The company gradually expanded over several years, adding shops and changing from selling second-hand clothing to designing and selling its own lines. International expansion began with the 1989 opening of a Spanish branch in Madrid and the 1994 opening of a Hackett shop on Paris’s Rive Gauche.

This particular pair was made for Hackett by an unidentified Northampton jobber of apparent excellent quality. These are a warm tan calf, a perfect complement to any casual dress; khakis, tweeds, checks, corduroys or any earth-tones suitings, a shoe, to be sure, in the English taste and one that absolutely distinguishes the wearer. An elegant, comfortable and finely made shoe and originally a Euro 650+ value.
