George J. Cleverley & Co. Ltd.
13 The Royal Arcade, London
This unusually elegant and sleek 2-Eyelet Derby was bought in the 1990’s at Cleverley’s Royal Arcade shop. With its narrow waist, long vamp and elongated toe it flatters the foot and anticipates today’s fashions but without compromising a tradition silhouette. The grade of leather employed in the making of this shoe, impossible to represent in these photograps, is a buttery calf of the peerless quality commensurate with this firm’s celebrated workmanship. Of course the Cleverley establishment, one of the half dozen best shoemakers in the world with a long pedigree reaching back to George Cleverley’s own master, Nikolaus Tuczek, needs no introduction to the shoe aficionado. The history of this distinguished firm can be found in greater detail elsewhere in this website. These shoes would be about a 1000 Pounds in London today.

Superb, nearly new; only tried on a few times. I usually prefer polishing to a matte finish, as shown here, but for those who prefer a high gloss shine, this is the kind of leather that takes to polish wonderfully. Sold without trees.
