*Like new – SANTONI Goodyear Welted Cap-Toe Oxford: 46D (US 12D)
Cap-Toe Half Brogue Oxford
Santoni was founded by Andrea and Rosa Santoni in 1975 and today produces four quality lines, the “Classic” line (Blake Stiched) retailing between $600-900, their Goodyear welted line, selling for $1250 in December 2015, their “Fatte a Mano” line, now well over the $1500 and their “Signature” or “Limited Edition” line, entirely hand made and selling at $2000 or above.Much is written to compare the lesser Blake Stitched Santonis with other Blake Stitched Italian shoes from Ferragamo and Mantellassi and opinions and loyalties differ. Among the Blake stitched, I favour Santoni because of the somewhat superior quality of leather but in this lower price range I would advise choosing according to which model pleases most; the differences in construction are trivial. Among the Goodyear welted models, as in this shoe, Santoni is usually the better choice, superbly made shoes, very durable, using finest quality leathers, precise detailing inside and out, and very pleasing styling, flattering to the foot without transgressing the limits of the classical. Among the best ready-made shoes from Italy.
The present shoe is of that category, Goodyear Welted into a closed channel, as in bespoke shoemaking or the very best ready-made shoes. This shoe is to a great extent, hand-made. It is a lovely warm standard brown that will take well to polishing. And do remember to polish it before wearing outside; this is an almost new shoe, worn once or twice only.
