Presented here are a pair of absolutely classic Brown Suede All-Weather Norwegians by the great 100 year old firm, the boutique French bootmaker, JOSEPH FENESTRIER, Paris, since 1895. They are, as you can see, an incredibly sturdy quotation of a familiar model but beautifully done in just the right color of brown suede. It is hard to imagine a more handsome shoe for the hard pavement in town or a more practical work-horse for the country. The discrete lacing, the 360 degree split reverse welt (storm welt), the hand-raised apron and split-toe, the non-slip, suede lined heel counter, and the molded toe all contribute to making this a very smart shoe and a supremely comfortable one. The massive proprietary rubber sole and heel make it an indestructible one too. This is what the French call a triple sole shoe. Double or triple sole, this is “custom-made” build quality.

In a world of overpriced, second-rate, glued together (or Blake-stitched) shoes masquerading as luxury under inflated brand names such as Prada, Gucci, Vuitton and others, this minor masterpiece by Fenestrier is the true luxury item. What distinguishes Fenestrier is the superb quality of the leather, the meticulous interior work (which the picture can only hint at) and the unadulterated classic line. All in all, a top, top quality shoe, and the best of the ready-mades to come out of France, and I include the giant Weston in my remark.

    Size Details:

US 10.5D........(UK 9.5E)......Continental 44D, for the medium width foot.

    Shoe Condition:

Bottoms near new. Tops showing some rubbing of the suede, otherwise fine. Sold without trees.
PLEASE NOTE: Contrary to conventional wisdom, suede is very easy to maintain, easier than smooth leather and very practical for bad weather or off-road use. A simple brushing makes suede presentable again and, in the worst cases, mud and dirt can simply be rinsed off, even shampooed, and, after letting dry, brushed and worn again, perfectly fresh and clean.
