Johnston & Murphy’s version of this great classic shoe from their prestige line, the Crown Aristocraft, uses a dramatic last that resembles those of the 1920’s and 1930’s. Somewhat flared at the line of the small toe, it reminds one of a custom made shoe and promises to be an unusually comfortable shoe. Very appropriate in black or oxblood to business, daytime or even less formal evening dress, this impressive model never fails to draw compliments. The rarity of this shoe cannot be overestimated; Many time more derbys (open lacing) were and are produced than oxfords (closed lacing) and fewer remain in circulation in good condition now after 30-plus years. The existence of a shoe in the condition of this one, essentially new, worn a few times only, approaches zero. Moreover J & M’s Aristocraft line was their uncontested best product. in all respects superior to most everything on the market today. .
