Blue Suede Double Monk Strap
Herring Shoes was founded in 1966 by Richard Herring as a shoe retail shop in Devon, England. Today, while still operating two retail stores, Herring are principally an on-line retailer, offering shoes from a number of Northampton shoemakers including Church’s, Cheaney, Loake, Barker and Tricker’s who, as well as providing their standard products to Herring, are producing special lines for them, developed together with Adrian Herring, who now heads the company.
The double monk, originally introduced by John Lobb as their “Philip II” and “William” models, has gained great popularity and is now produced in a variety of configurations by myriad manufacturers. The present shoe is one of the Herring-branded, limited edition, proprietary models, a particularly charming powder blue / robin’s egg blue, set on a contrasting natural brown Goodyear welted sole and stacked heel, a handsome combination.
