Full Wing-Tip Brogue Slip-On
Foster & Son was founded in 1840 and is London’s oldest bespoke shoemaker still in private hands. It now incorporates Henry Maxwell Ltd. founded in 1750, the oldest of the remaining bootmakers in London. Together these sister firms trade today at 83 Jermyn Street opposite Fortnums. Originally a famous spur-maker Maxwell thrived on the ubiquitous use of the horse for battle, ceremony, hunting, sport and personal transport, and soon supplied boots for cavalry regiments, hunting, polo etc. Bespoke shoe, as shown here can require as much as 100 hours of skilled labour to produce. They take measurements in their shop or by arrangement at your home or office in London. The cost; £1,870 for shoes, £3600 for boots and £250 for the specially made wooden trees. Ref: http://foster.co.uk/ Delivery in 4 to 6 months.
In November 2018 Foster & Son opened a factory in Northampton dedicated to the making of ready to wear shoes. This is the first such factory to open in the home of British shoe-making for many years, and makes Foster & Son the only London bespoke shoemaker to have its own Northampton ready-to-wear facility. Until now, Foster’s ready-to-wear collection made by Edward Green has been available through the store but now special order or customized footwear will be available in-house. Whether the quality and finish from the new factory will equal that of the earlier offerings by the long-experienced Edward Green remains to be seen.
In any case, this lovely classic pair of Edward Green Full Wing-Tip Slip-ons/Loafers in Brown Suede is of the highest quality, with the very close stitching of the sole approaching bespoke workmanship. The overall effect of this classic model is discreet and supremely elegant.
