Oliver Moore is one of the few remaining bespoke shoemakers in New York. Founded in 1878 by the eponymous Oliver Moore, the firm remained in continuous family ownership, under the direction of Elizabeth Moore, the widow of Thomas Moore, grandson of the founder, until 1986, when it was bought by Paul Moorefield. Among a long list of celebrities, President Theodore Roosevelt was a client more than 100 years ago. Further details about the firm may be found in the Vass book, Handmade Shoes for Men (Herrenschuhe, Handgearbeitet).
If ready made shoes by Oliver Moore today are $3000 and ready made in exotic leathers $4000, https://olivermoorebootmakers.com/collections/mens-shoes, one can only imagine the price of their bespoke shoes.
Size: Being a custom made shoe, naturally unmarked as to size but by careful measurements using shoemaker’s lasts, it is seen to be a US 11-115 WIDE….UK 10-10.5 WIDE……Continental 44.5-45 WIDE. This is a truly wide shoe, ideal if you have been resorting to over-sized shoes to get the width you need. Here is the correct solution to the problem.
Condition: Fine. Tops excellent, showing the rolling creasing for which cordovan is know. Soles showing trivial wear and heels first wear to the replaceable rubber inset of the McAfee style dove-tailed heels. Sold without trees.
