*EDWARD GREEN Triple Sole, ALL-WEATHER Norwegian: 47E (US 13E)
All-Weather Scotch-Grain Split-Toe Norwegian
Here is an extraordinary lovely and superlatively well made pair of All-Weather Norwegians, absolutely in the English taste by one of the greatest shoemakers in the world, Edward Green …some say the greatest shoe maker, superior to Lobb. I make no judgment between these two titans but the slender lines of Edward Green’s 505 last are very seductive, and the workmanship is indisputably of the highest order.
These shoes were made especially in the 1990s for the two Paul Stuart shops, one in Chicago and the other on Madison Avenue. Unfortunately Edward Green’s production is so limited and their output so quickly sold off, that the Paul Stuart shops were chronically out of stock. Eventually, in the late 90’s, Paul Stuart turned to Grenson, another excellent English shoemaker, to produce their top-line “Stuart’s Choice” models. But the magnificent Edward Greens of the last decade will not be forgotten by the gentlemen who had the good fortune to acquire a pair or more.
The superior low-profile Vibram Gumlite rubber sole and heel will carry you through every weather and do so in unequaled comfort. You will find this shoe not only handsome -somehow at once rough and refined- but eminently suitable for almost every daytime use, a recognized classic, as good with tweeds and earth tones as with a daytime suit, and with its all-weather sole, the right shoe for wrong weather.
