This is a close copy of the WWII Combat Boots made under military contract to the U.S. Government by the International Shoe Co. for the U.S. Army. In place of the Nitrite Rubber sole and heel of the period, Crockett has employed the very best (and much copied) of the modern high profile soles, the Commando Sole by the English maker, Itshide. This is an indestructible sole and Goodyear welted with an additional 360 degree Storm Welt (split reverse welt) (last picture) for added impermeabilty to wet. Along with the almost entirely scuff-proof, zero-maintenance, full thickness rough-out calf skin and solid brass buckles, this promises to be boot to serve in all, and I mean all, conditions. Taking its cue from extreme purpose engineering of the Infantry combat boot of the mid-century, this boot is made to serve in places from which there is no return, no second chance, far from home: a soldier’s boot.
