  The Penny Loafer is one of the longest enduring styles of this and the last century.  A university standard from the 1920 onward –remember the Bobby Socksers?- and it remains true-to-form, unchanged, resisting any alteration or unnecessary modernization. Any meddling with this classic has been short lived. The only variations that have survived are variation in colour, in leather and the very occasional make-up in an exotic leather, as we see so beautifully done here.

  Indeed, this Alligator Penny Loafer is of special interest, an infrequently seen combination of insouciance and elegance, the relaxed appearance of a loafer but made up in the unquestioned luxury of alligator hides.  In my opinion, the juxtaposition of this superb material and this traditional model is both charming and disarming, especially upon first sight.

  The skins of this light weight Italian-made loafer are thoughtfully matched and the full strap, extending from sole to sole gives a bit of extra substance and stability across the top of the foot (the instep) and a bit of extra eye-interest too. These are fully lined in tan glove leather. All in all a delightful and luxurious version of this classic.

  Superb; all original and lightly worn, with new, protective, Michelin, non-slip soles added (and not worn since).
