The Left Shoe Company was a made-to-measure men’s shoe maker with offices in London, Los Angeles and Helsinki. Founded in 1998 as The Left Foot Company, named, we believe, after the 1989 film of the same name, was rebranded The Left Shoe Company in the fall of 2010.  Sadly, LSC filed for bankruptcy in 2016 and is no more.

The Left Shoe Company pioneered the, then, novel 3D scanning method which allowed shoes to be available in an infinite range of sizes, precisely measured and very much more efficiently produced, reducing cost and production time. Instead of delivery time of custom-made shoes around the usual six months and obliging the client to revisit the shoemaker several times, LSC delivery was typically within 6 weeks and after only the original 3D fitting.  The 3D-scanning process completed, the customer made his choice of sole type, color and leather and, of course, model, as in this case, a Spectator with classic Harris Tweed cloth over “tortoise shell” brown “polished cobbler”, to my eye, a rather stunning combination and not one that you will soon see elsewhere.  This shoe defines the term, “one of a kind”.

We know this masterpiece to have been commissioned by a well known singer/song writer, whose name, for the sake of courtesy, will only be revealed to the ultimate buyer.
