Rogers and Morse were literally the founders of the firm and the same persons who later launched the better known Sundial Shoe Co. and the Mark Twain brand, all very significant shoemakers, producing among the finest -many hand made- products of the pre-war period.

While not made to order, the handwork in this shoe, up to and including the sole, hand-sewn with contrasting twine, is a testament to the skill of this artisan and a compelling example of bespoke shoemaking at its very finest. A bench-made shoe, with oak-tanned spade sole, and the sort of astonishingly durable contemporary Light-Tread hard rubber heel that has not been made for half a century, the overall effect of this masterpiece is one of extraordinary beauty without the slightest degree of ostentation. The 1000-plus Euro ready-mades of Lobb and Green and Weston do not compare to this shoe. Although from the 1920s, this harkens to 19th century hand craftsmanship, pre-Goodyear Welting. The overall appearance of this shoe is one of ultimate elegance. This is the last word for the collector or well dressed gentleman who’s has the good fortune to be this size.

    Size Details:

US 7.5E......UK 6.5F.......Continental 40-405E, for the medium to somewhat wider foot.

    Shoe Condition:

NEW and unworn. Although almost 100 years old, these shoes show no effects of age, not even the typical scuffing of the sole from storage.
